About what people do to save the earth… or part of it…

About what people do to save the earth… or part of it…
“Run to Save Pasig River”. Now this one still amazes me, how would running save a river? Why not just mobilize the funds, mobilize the senate and the congress and pass the bill to effectively and permanently save Pasig River??? And why only Pasig River and not the whole fluvial system that feeds the Laguna the Bay…
I had a friend who joined some of those “Runs to Save whateveritmightbe”, Upon asking him about the “plan” he explained that this was just for PR, his mother forced him to run because it would be good for the image of his company… mmmmh is it efficient? Nothing has been done for Pasig so far and the runners did not really care, all that mattered was to run to see who is running, to run to be seen running and once the paparazzi are out, to slow down and take it easy because it is not a race…
Ma. Rosanna Mina of abs-cbnNews.com noted that: "Event organizers were optimistic that the run will draw enough support to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of participants in a foot race." so was this all about just getting fame in the Guinness book?

But it was reported that "around 160,000 participated in the run" and each paid "a P250 registration fee isn't this equivalent to P40 million? Why only P10 million to 12 million were declared as earning?

If you want to save the earth, why not starting by voluntarily cleaning up the streets and educating less fortunate people on the long-term effects of littering?  Out of P43 million, you could relocate some people living near Pasig and causing such pollution, you can still run from one house to the other if you really want…

For further questioning I recommend reading "The Truth About Pasig River Fun Runs"...
And what about some feedback? Well my friend didn't care much where the money went, as for the media, abs-cbn didn't update us about where the P43 million went... Or was it P10 million?...
